Introducing the Digital Productivity Coach – an interactive guide to digital productivity, available 24/7 to give you a concrete next step to improve your productivity skills.

If you’re interested in improving your productivity, it’s not easy to identify where to start. There are dozens of tools and systems out there, but how do you know which one is appropriate for your current needs? How do you choose what to learn? Who should you listen to?

Tiago Forte’s Digital Productivity Pyramid provides a standardized curriculum for productivity. It lays out a clear scaffolding for how productivity skills build on and reinforce each other.

However, if you’re new to productivity, it’s not easy to use this diagram. How do you figure out where you are on the pyramid? And even if you do figure out which skill you need to work on, what should you do next?

Enter the Digital Productivity Coach.

The Digital Productivity Coach asks a series of questions about your current productivity knowledge and skills. Once it identifies an area for you to work on, it supplies you with targeted readings and next actions for improving the skills most likely to take you to the next level.

Here’s what it looks like:

Our map is separated into three stages: Digital Fluency, Task Management, and Personal Knowledge Management. If you are interested in continuing your journey beyond that, there are additional advanced topics available for study.

Digital Fluency (Inbox Zero)

Task Management (GTD)

Personal Knowledge Management (BASB)

To get started, simply go to the Digital Productivity Coach website and answer the questions. In 5-10 minutes, the coach will identify a next step for you to improve your productivity. It will tell you why that step is important, and how you can work on it. Once you’ve mastered that step, you can return to the Digital Productivity Coach and get a new next step.

Here are some quotes from people who have tried the Digital Productivity Coach:

Frequently Asked Questions

Who built the Digital Productivity Coach?

The Digital Productivity Coach was built by productivity nerds Tasshin Fogleman and James Stuber.

Colleagues, clients, and friends were asking both of us for productivity tips. While we’re happy to teach, one-on-ones are time consuming and hard to schedule.

We searched for a single, easy-to-use resource to share with others, but couldn’t find one. Instead of giving up, we built our own: The Digital Productivity Coach.

How does the Digital Productivity Coach relate to Getting Things Done (GTD) and Building a Second Brain (BASB)?

The Digital Productivity Coach aims to provide a set of sane defaults for productivity. It is inspired by GTD and BASB, but is not an official product of The David Allen Company or Forte Labs.

GTD® and Getting Things Done® are registered trademarks of The David Allen Company, and this project is not endorsed by or affiliated with them in any way. Building a Second Brain is a registered trademark of Forte Labs.

Does this cost money?

You can pay what you want – including $0! We want productivity to be accessible to everyone. On the other hand, if you can, your generous support will help us to continue to offer the Digital Productivity Coach to the world for free. You can also use the affiliate links within the Coach to purchase relevant products and courses, or use the Coach to find a real, human productivity coach to work with one-on-one.
